Screen print - Fly away

I did a screen printing project early on in my foundation year which I thoroughly enjoyed. We could pick whatever theme we wanted. I chose to do 'hair' as I was very inspired by illustrations of hair that I had seen online on Flickr. Also It was a very experimental project and I am really pleased with the outcomes!

Indian themed Glastonbury poster - Development

This project was my final major project last year. I decided to produce an Indian themed Glastonbury music festival poster, along with wristbands, t-shirts and tickets. My biggest inspiration for this was my trip earlier last year to Calcutta. Here is some development sketchbook work.

For my Glastonbury poster I used Photoshop and Illustrator. I was extremely pleased with the outcome as I feel I accomplished exactly what I wanted. I feel it’s very contemporary and really eye catching.

Typography - New project - Initial ideas

At the moment, I have just started a new project on typography. I have produced an A4 research book. For my first task which I am doing now, I am to pick 3 words from the list, as a theme for each style of type. I have chosen texture, technology and organic. I have done some initial ideas this week for texture and the cut out leafs is one of them.

Still on the textures theme, I used the words texture and rough. For rough I contradicted it, by using soft fur for the type.

Here I have carved the word smooth with a scalpel into banana skin.

Illustration and Lino print

This was a narrative imagery project I recently did. I had to pick an article and produce 3 narrative images. I chose the Indonesian toddler who smokes. On mount board I presented my 3 hand drawn illustrations and a Lino print of one of them. I also added an example of what my narrative image looks like next to the article itself.

Boadicea inspired dress

This is a dress I made in December 2010. Edge Hill University visited our college to do a workshop with us where we had to pick a name from the list given and then make a dress inspired by that person but only using paper. I picked Boadicea the warrior. It was a new experience for me as I had never made clothes before and I enjoyed the challenge!

3D Candy Skull Lantern

In November 2010 I took part in the Southport lantern parade, where I made my own structure from willow withies and then decorated it with coloured tissue paper to create a 3D candy skull. This was a great opportunity for me to get involved with the community and display my work to the public.

Life Drawing

This is a recent life drawing I produced using 3 different colour pastels in 5 minutes. The more faded drawings were quick 30 second sketches overlaying each other on the paper.

On the left hand side is quick 10 second paintings, using black and white acrylic paints.
On the right hand side is a upclose 20 minute painting, also using black and white acrylic paints.

Portrait

I am doing photography as an enrichment in college and I did a short project on portraits. This is my favourite shot as I feel the light is really complimenting her features and this is what I wanted to achieve.
